Opium in Afghanistan.

We all know that  a photo essay is a series of photographs on a particular theme. An example might be a series of photographs on the natural calamity took place at Kedarnath , or a series on homelessness, or a series on row houses, or flowers, or pretty much anything at all. Photojournalists often create photo essays, either on assignment or as self assignments. Anyone with a camera can create a photo essay on any subject imaginable. You would have seen examples where kids have been given disposable cameras and told to document anything they choose. The youngsters come up with some very interesting, even exciting photo essays all on their own.
Now our purpose in this blog is to tell facts in a serial of photos varied  from  every day living to Space wonders.
In our first posting the topic chosen is

                                                      Opium in Afghanistan.

Afghan farmers collect raw opium as they work in a poppy field in Khogyani district of Jalalabad, east of Kabul, Afghanistan, Friday, May 10, 2013. Opium poppy cultivation has been increasing for a third year in a row and is heading for a record high, the U.N. said in a report. Poppy cultivation is also dramatically increasing in areas of the southern Taliban heartland, the report showed, especially in regions where thousands of U.S.-led coalition troops have been withdrawn or are in the process of departing. The report indicates that whatever international efforts have been made to wean local farmers off the crop have failed. (AP Photo/Rahmat Gul)
